Sausages and spring onions

Finally, finally got round to cooking a meal at home instead of eating out. Woke up early this morning and defrosted some sausages in the microwave, sliced up some spring onions (ねぎor蔥) and minced some garlic. Heated some oil in the frying pan, added the garlic, sausages and then the negi. Tasted and found it was a bit bland, so I added some salt. Hmm, actually I didn't taste after adding the salt, but it turned out alright.

Verdict: ok. The sweetness of the onions was good. But maybe it's just the taste of home-cooked food after so long.

New Year Eve's dinner photos

So here are some photos of the dinner I had on New Year's Eve.

Large, fresh, succulent prawns; limited to one per person.

The claypot, with oysters floating in it for this round. This is about two-thirds through the meal, I think.

Simple breakfast

Sometimes, I just feel like eating simply. Here's a breakfast that I had some time back. Plain rice, an egg that I cooked in the microwave, and korean seaweed. Simple, but delicious.

Sausages and spinach

Here's something I cooked up about 2 weeks ago. Fried sausages and spinach in the pan together. Nothing spectacular, but initially I was skeptical as to whether the soft texture of the spinach would fit with the chopped sausages. They matched better than I expected, although they were not exactly made for each other, so to speak. Sausages sold here in Japan are somewhat different from those in Singapore. Or to be more precise, the standard type of sausage in Japan is not like those I remember from Singapore. I miss those sausages that came in cans back home.

Liver and spinach

Cooked chicken liver and heart with spinach today. First, sliced onion, spinach, liver and hearts. Fried the onion in a frying pan for a short while, added the liver, and after the outer surface had changed colour, added the spinach. Fried for a while longer, then turned the heat down and covered the pan. Quite a lot of water in the liver and spinach, so it was not really frying with oil per se. Used salt and pepper, no other seasoning. Verdict: so-so.

Stirfry: chicken and spinach

Stirfried chicken and spinach. Used only starch, pepper, salt to season the chicken. Verdict: average.

Just got my digital camera back from repair, so I had to post something...

Stirfry: chicken and green capsicum

Cooked after a long break. Not bad. Perhaps I used too much seasoning and starch though...
